University of Calabar (UNICAL) 10 MW Solar IPP

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) is developing a 10 MW Solar PV power supply system in collaboration with Dantata Solar Ltd and the German Government through the Nigerian German Energy Partnership (NGEP).

Dantata Solar Ltd is the developer for this project in collaboration with institutions of the German government within the NGEP framework.

The Consul General of the German Embassy in Lagos, Herr Ingo Herbert was at the launch in Calabar to showcase the support of the German government for this pilot clean energy initiative in UNICAL.

Established in 1975 out of the Calabar campus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNICAL as it is fondly referred to, is one of the fastest growing universities in Nigeria. 

The University has housing units for staff members and students which will also benefit from the solar power supply program.
