The University of Ibadan is developing a 10 MW Solar PV power supply system in collaboration with the Nigerian German Energy Partnership (NGEP).
Dantata Solar Ltd is the developer for this project in collaboration with institutions of the German government within the NGEP framework.
The MD of Dantata Solar Ltd Dr. Jeremy Gaines, who also serves as the Coordinator of NGEP, and other board and staff members were at the groundbreaking for the project in the University Campus in Ibadan in 2016.
The former German Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Bernard Schlagheck was also onsite to showcase the support of the German government for this pilot clean energy initiative in the Nigerian university.
Established over 68 years ago, the University of Ibadan, UI as it is fondly referred to, is the first University in Nigeria. The University of Ibadan Postgraduate School is, well acknowledged within and outside the country as one of the largest in Africa and the flagship of Postgraduate Education in Nigeria. There are twelve Halls of Residence which provide accommodation for about 30% of the population of students in the regular studies mode; and three others under construction. The University has 1212 housing units, out of which of which 609 units are occupied by senior staff and 603 units by junior staff.
